HOKA Tor Ultra Hi + Lo Release August 11

HOKA Tor Ultra Hi + Lo Release August 11

Haven Neiman

Established by trail runners and French Alp residents Jean-Luc Diard and Nicole Mermoud, HOKA, or HOKA ONE ONE, was created when the duo discovered that running a series of starts and stops wasn’t good for their legs. They decided to take matters into their own hands and craft shoes that offered good momentum and cushioning while helping improve runners' race times. Word soon got out about what Diard and  Mermoud were doing, and since then, this effort has transformed into the ever-growing athletic footwear brand HOKA.

Known for their HOKA running, trail running, and hiking shoes, HOKA is highly recognized for its oversized midsoles and outsoles that take on a problem-solving approach to running, walking, and other fitness needs. Wearing a pair of HOKAs is a feeling unlike any other, as their maximum cushioning and meticulously engineered midsole provide a soft, smooth, and efficient ride that utilizes one-of-a-kind technology like Meta-Rocker Geometry, Carbon Fiber Plates, J-Frames, and Profly technology. Hoka One One’s most well-known silhouettes include the Hoka Bondi 7, Hoka One One Clifton 8, and more.

In addition to running shoes, HOKA also has a line of hiking boots and shoes. Like the brand’s distinctive footwear, these silhouettes are still treated with the same thick cushioned soles that offer enhanced comfort and shock absorption. The HOKA Tor Ultra Hi are hiking boots designed to combine the comfort and cushioning of HOKA’s running shoe technology with the durability and support needed for hiking and other outdoor activities. The HOKA Tor Ultra Lo is built off the blueprint of the Tor Ultra Hi but in a low-cut iteration.

With that, HOKA introduces the release of the HOKA Tor Ultra Hi + Tor Ultra Lo in ‘Spice/Hot Sauce.’ This fall-ready silhouette arrives in a grounding, earthy-inspired hue rooted in performance yet still fitting for everyday wear. The designs start with a sierra nubuck leather upper and a lengthened lacing system. GORE-TEX lining is placed for added weather-proofing. Mesh detailing is placed throughout, while the heel loop tabs offer easy on and off. A Vibram Megagrip rubber outsole underneath offers added dimension and functionality. As for stability, the HOKA Tor Ultra Hi features a moderate amount of stability due to its wide base and Active Foot Frame. Cushioning is optimal, thanks to hits higher bed of soft cushion that provides a forgiving impact and ride. As for the HOKA Tor Ultra Lo,  the silhouette’s stability is neutral while incorporating a plush amount of cushioning like its ‘Hi’ counterpart.
