FEATURE Lookbook: Montgomery Cargo Pants
Chelsie Rendon
The fashion industry has taken into account the importance of creating genuine pants and trousers that are stylish but also functional. With this ideology, traditional cargo pants came to fruition in 1938 primarily made for technical use during times of war. As time went on, the evolution of the cargo pants became a spectacle. It’s loved by many markets ranging from working-class individuals to rebellious teens seeking the latest in fashion. Durability, comfort, and practicality are the main traits of the pants and some of the reasons they are so desirable.
Our latest installment within our ready-to-wear collection features the Montgomery Cargo Pants, a reimagined version of the original cargo silhouette fine-tuned with modern finishings and premium materials. This collection consists of three colorways; Green Peat Moss, Scottish Green Plaid, and Highland Horn Plaid. Each piece is constructed with a slim and tapered fit contrasting the typical baggy designs found within cargos. High-quality woven fabric is handcrafted in the Outer Hebrides within Scotland, courtesy of the Harris Tweed Company. During the creation of each pant, pure virgin wool is hand-dyed and spun meticulously to avoid damage during the time of construction.
Featured in the photo above, a model displays the Montgomery Cargo Pants in Highland Horn Plaid. Accents of red and black envelope the legs, breaking from the base. The pants showcase accentuated ripstop material along the waistband and leg cuffs, enabling a more comfortable and textural design. The Highland Horn colorway is paired with a Maison Margiela hoodie creating a style that can easily be dressed up or down depending on your desired look.
The functionality between the pants is endless as they can be paired for a more casual style or an event upon the town. Our Montgomery Cargo in Scottish Green Plaid showcases undertones of rich red and blue that can easily be paired with a pair of casual sneakers and a graphic tee. For a more elevated look, we can switch the graphic tee for a long sleeve Rugby Tee from Thom Browne and a pair of Clarks Originals Wallabee Boots.
Each cargo pant comes complete with a fully functional button, zipper fly closure, and twill tape fastening, attributing to the customizable effect provided. Oversized thigh bellow pockets and a YKK specialty lock zipper are highlighted against the woven wool base similarly found within traditional designs. Flush and subtle welt pockets are provided along the back and sides, adding to the pant’s functionality.
