Nike Dunk High 1985 SP

‘Acid Wash Red’

Introduced alongside the Air Jordan 1, Nike’s Dunk High has garnered just as much attention as the Michael Jordan silhouette due to its versatile development and signature colorways. First seen as a part of the ‘Be True To Your School’ series, the sneaker was originally made for college basketball players and their fans. Universities including UNLV, Iowa, Michigan, and Kentucky were all a part of the OG release and now their colorways are immensely popular to this date. But after a while, as footwear technology started to progress, the Dunk fell short and almost became a part of the past until Nike reintroduced the sneaker with an updated version. Nike’s skateboarding sub-label reimagined the sneaker which eventually became the most popular model within the collection. Known for its bold colors and experimental base, the Nike Dunk SB became a spectacle within the skate community. Because of its unique and unapologetic take on footwear, other sneaker enthusiasts would want a pair for casual purposes which would only grow the silhouette even more.

The Dunk has become a staple within Nike’s repertoire and is continuously produced to this day. It is incredibly desired by sneaker collectors and can also be seen on renowned celebrities including Travis Scott, Jason Sudeikis, Kylie Jenner, and PJ Tucker. Because of its following, Nike reverts back to the sneaker’s roots by releasing the original Dunk shape seen in 1985. First seen with the Nike x Undercover collaboration earlier this season, Nike will now be releasing two colorways of the ‘85 silhouette and one of them will be known as the ‘Acid Wash Red.’

Similar to the Dunk’s we see during the present day, this sneaker will feature a fully encased leather upper with corresponding overlays that showcase the bold ‘acid wash’ print. A mixture of red, grey, and black perfectly blend for an iconic and versatile finish. Vintage cues are seen at the tongue as it highlights throwback branding and the outsole which includes an off-white finish. The collar is also perfectly cut to the ankle for a fit that’s is unlike previous pairs. Classic attributes utilized within the sneaker are seen at the toebox with perforated details for breathability and a cushioned midsole for optimal comfort. The sneaker comes complete with the iconic Nike Swoosh stitched at the side panels and flat knitted cotton laces for security.
