‘University Gold’

The introduction of the Nike Dunk in 1985 and its extraordinary growth over the past 35 years is nothing short of impactful and impressive. Inspired by the Air Force 1 and the Air Jordan 1, the unique silhouette of the Dunk was released during the golden age of basketball with NBA legend Michael Jordan. The design was crafted to accommodate basketball tactics and quickly became a household name in the world of basketball sneakers. Nike quickly began marketing for iconic basketball teams through the iconic 'Be True To Your School Pack' by creating their colorways with colleges like the University of Iowa, University of Kentucky, University of Michigan, Georgetown, St. John’s, UNLV, and Syracuse. By the time the ‘90s rolled around, the skateboarding community had adopted the Nike Dunk, as they appreciated its durability, cup-sole shape, and overall construction. This love for the sneaker resulted in a new SB silhouette of the dunk. With that, the hype over the Dunk began to grow once again, with iconic collaborations in the early 2000s with brands such as Futura, Supreme, Levi’s, and Stussy.

Over the past few years, the reputation and excitement over the Nike Dunk have snowballed. The basketball shoe turned lifestyle sneaker staple received a significant revival in 2020 and 2021. By unifying art, fashion, music, and pop culture into a sneaker, the Nike Dunk has truly gone through a nonlinear story over the past 35 years. Its worldwide evolution incorporates thoughtful storytelling through an iconic and universal silhouette. The latest Dunk offering from Nike includes the Women’s Dunk High and Low seen in ‘University Gold’ colorways. The iconic sneaker gives off a bright aesthetic thanks to its bold University Gold and Metallic Gold hues that encompass the exterior. A signature white leather upper is placed, while University Gold appears along with the additional leather overlays. Signature Nike Swooshes are stitched at the side panels, and a red hue appears at the rubber outsole. Foam cushioning offers optimal comfort, while the perforated toe box provides breathability during all times of wear.
