Nike x OFF-WHITE ℅ Virgil Abloh Air Zoom Tempo Release July 23rd

Air Zoom Tempo NEXT%

Release July 23rd

Nike is no stranger to collaborations and recently they continue their long-lasting relationship with Off-White’s Virgil Abloh to create a newly revised running shoe that is made for the future. Nike’s collaboration history includes a long list of high-end names including Japanese labels AMBUSH and Fragment Designs but also streetwear legends such as Supreme and Stussy. But recently Nike has been growing their partnership with Off-White as many enthusiasts have been anticipating upcoming releases. Their first ever project together began in 2017 as the duo announced the revival of some of the most iconic sneakers in Nike’s history. This completely shook the community as some of the silhouettes being introduced haven’t been a part of Nike’s portfolio since its original release. Titled ‘The Ten,’ this release included an Air Jordan 1 OG Retro High, Nike Blazer, Air Max 90, Air Presto, Flyknit React Hyperdunk, Air Vapormax, Air Max 97, Zoom Fly, and Air Force 1. This collection set the bar high for both Nike and Off-White as it perfectly blended classic Nike styles with the industrial designs commonly seen within the fashion brand’s portfolio.

After ‘The Ten,’ the duo would continue to release a wide range of sneakers and exclusive styles as seen with Complex Con Air Force 1 and the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “White” only released in Europe. Some of their most hyped releases include Abloh’s take on the legendary Be True Dunk colorways and his monochromatic theme utilized within the Vapor Max released in 2018. In addition to the hyped and sought-after styles, Virgil Abloh wanted to produce more sneakers but also try out new categories. Aside from streetwear classics, Off-White introduced new versions of signature Converse shoes and even dabbled within Nike’s running category. Virgil continuously reverts to runner sneakers as seen with his unique take on the Zoom Terra Kiger 5 and Waffle Racer SP. They all follow a similar theme with a spiked outsole as Abloh wants to focus on optimizing traction and grip during times of wear. And now, just in time for summer, both Nike and Virgil Abloh have come together again to release their latest sneaker known as the Air Zoom Tempo NEXT%.

Virgil Abloh explores vibrant palettes with the newly released sneakers. Introduced in ‘Pink Glow’ and ‘Scream Green,’ each sneaker contains a Flyknit upper and the iconic zip tie for a premium touch. The spiked outsole pays tribute to previous models but also offers an undeniable grip with each step. In addition to the bold tread, the rubber outsole protects the inner ZoomX cushioning. Nike is known for its inventive technology and ZoomX is their latest as it introduces the highest energy return compared to previous makes. Coinciding with the ZoomX we see the signature Air Zoom unit at the forefoot and through a transparent window along the rubber sole. In addition to cushioning, the sneaker offers optimal security with a lace toggle that can be adjusted to your liking. The sneaker also offers a lightweight experience compared to other bulky silhouettes. The heel pull tab is added for easy application while its overall sock-like fit emphasizes its premium construction. When all of these elements are combined, we are introduced to a unique sneaker that not only is comfortable but fashionable as well. The sneaker is releasing at selected footwear boutiques and is growing in popularity as many have realized how exclusive Nike and Off-White sneakers are.
