Utilitarian-Inspired Essentials from South2 West8

Sarah Harwell

One of the latest collection releases from South2 West8 is the Fall 2023 collection now available at FEATURE. Founded in 2003 in Northern Japan and inspired by the natural landscape of Hokkaido. The name was based off of the address of the Sapporo flagship store under the umbrella brand of Nepenthes.

The new arrivals at FEATURE are crafted from heavy weight cotton twill, and cotton and nylon grosgrain. The Fall 2023 collection available includes the Belted C.S. Pant, which is a utilitarian inspired straight fit pant that comes in navy and charcoal and features a string pant effect. The Multi-Pocket Zipped Down Vest is a function-forward statement piece, featuring ten pockets, and the 6 Pocket Flannel Shirt with the same clustered design and a plaid print.

Inspired by Tenkara fly-fishing attire and outerwear, the Japanese brand is known for its “Skull & Target” print, weather effect jacket, cardigans, string bags, horn camo Cotton Ripstop pants, and camo print. Collaborating with brands such as Nanga, various items are heavily fishing influenced, such as the trucker cap and trout parka. Other items in their lineup include basics such as totes, t-shirts, sweatshirts, bucket hats, and hoodies. The Japanese brand also has elite technology such as insulator, army string, and waxed cotton made in the United Kingdom.
