As spring rolls in, the introduction of new collections is unveiled and as for Thom Browne, he is able to introduce his latest collection upon the steps of the Los Angeles Coliseum. This location is important to this delivery as Browne pays tribute to one of his childhood memories that takes place in 1976. His family took a trip to Montreal, Canada to experience the summer Olympics. Here he was able to see the USA obtain a gold medal within the decathlon and the gymnastics team score a perfect 10. Because of this memory, the Spring 2021 collection sees athletic designs mixed with contemporary styles. The use of muted and neutral color palettes is commonly seen within the pieces providing a ready-to-wear collection that can be implemented with any outfit. 

To get a better understanding of the particular aesthetic, Thom Browne introduces the Straight-Leg Track Pants. Typically seen with a tapered fit nowadays, the fashion label reverts to a throwback finish with a straight design. Nylon fabrication decorates the base while a mesh material constructs the signature 4-bar applique placed around the leg. Zippered closures are stitched upon the leg cuffs providing a tailored element that can be adjusted to your desired fit. In addition to the pants, we find a familiar styling within the Mid Thigh 4 Bar Shorts. Popularized within the 70s-80s, shorts made with a thigh-high cut were sought-after as many runners and athletes wore shorter garments. This design can be seen within Thom Browne’s shorts along with the fashion label’s unmistakable Grosgrain ribbon. Both garments are detailed with ripstop stitching upon their elastic waistband and adjustable drawstrings that can be tailored. Made for comfort, the shorts and pants can be easily paired with sneakers and a tee for a casual day or a polo and loafers for an elevated event. 

Apart from the clothing, we are also introduced to a variety of accessories that encapsulates Thom Browne’s sophisticated and quality aesthetic. The Needle Rib Scarf is constructed with complete cashmere providing a luxurious feeling during times of wear. The Grosgrain ribbon and 4-bar applique is meticulously implemented as Italian craftsmanship completes its premium design. Coinciding with the scarf, the Rib Hat is constructed with luxurious cashmere and follows a monochromatic color palette making it applicable to any style. 

Within the collection, we are also introduced to leather goods that primarily showcase the signature 4-bar motif. Thom Browne isn’t a stranger to high-quality fabrication, therefore the use of calf leather within the Double Card Holder is expected within the collection. When using quality materials the overall touch and feel are unmistakable thus the simplistic approach is utilized within the Card Holder’s design, allowing the leather to speak for itself.
