Inspired by McLaren Racing

Founded by menswear designer Rhuigi Villaseñor in 2015, Rhude began as a design venture that balances luxury techniques with high-end streetwear and contemporary menswear elements. With no formal training in fashion design, Villaseñor credits his mother, a tailor, for his understanding of garments and construction. His mother’s expertise resonated with him, teaching him to build each piece carefully while telling a story within each design. This practice continues to be the source of inspiration for Villaseñor’s designs, which provide a visual commentary on Los Angeles’s style and culture. Each collection chronicles his evolution from adolescence to maturity, with narrative reflecting in each design. With its ever-expanding fanbase, Rhude’s collections consist of American iconography and nostalgic references intertwined with the brand’s ongoing collaborations and collections. 

 

Since its origin, Rhude has gained traction from various high-profile artists, including Lebron James, Justin Bieber, Odell Beckham, and most notably, Kendrick Lamar. In 2012, Rapper Kendrick Lamar wore a custom black and white paisley bandana-print t-shirt at the BET Music Awards. This t-shirt was the first piece Villaseñor created for Rhude, which catapulted the brand’s beginning. 


 

Along with being worn by celebrities, Rhude has also pushed itself into new territories by releasing new collaborations, a line of womenswear, and accessories with its American aesthetic. Some of the brand’s most recent collaborations include Ralph Lauren, Canada Goose, PUMA, Thierry Lasry, and the NBA; all inspired by Rhude's iconic Americana theme.

 

In the brand’s most recent partnership with McLaren Racing, the collection pays homage to Bruce Lauren and the iconic history of the McLaren F1 team. The neutral trackside styles are inspired by the iconic paddock fashion worn by Formula 1 legends throughout history, such as Lewis Hamilton, Jim Clark, and Alain Prost. It reimagines sport and modern luxury into modern American streetwear, highlighting notes of innovation with each piece.

 

The American aesthetic in Rhude’s brand is showcased with classic checkered print and branding upon the chest with the Classic Checker Hoodie. Unique attributes of the cotton-blend hoodie include its sun-dry finishing, along with a standard kangaroo pocket and rib-knit trims. An additional collection piece consists of the Terry Shorts seen in Forest Green. These fall-colored logo shorts are premium washed with a nylon fabric base that provides branding across the front. The drawstring shorts include an elastic waistband for optimal comfort and are complete with metal hardware throughout the silhouette.

 

The collection also features signature accessories and headwear, such as the 1st place hat. This hat fits Rhude’s vintage aesthetic while also intertwining the racing creativity inspired by McLaren. Composed of polyester and corduroy bade, it features embroidered branding and imagery that overall complements the hat. It is complete with a flat bill and adjustable snapback closure for comfort.

 

An additional accessory from the collection is the Rhude Sun Ray sunglasses, which are seen in four different colors. These glasses are the perfect accessory for any outfit with its premium finishing throughout the silhouette. The glasses go with any Rhude piece due to its sleek metal hardware that also provide durability. The glasses are complete with tinted UV protectant lenses, branded case, and an embossed Rhude logo.
