Visvim is a portmanteau of two Latin words connoting strength and speed and was started with the goal of creating authentic and timeless designs. Previously to starting Visvim, Nakamura worked for Burton Snowboards as a designer for 8 years. The brand is recognized for its extreme attention to detail and quality that includes the use of natural dyes and Sea Island cotton. The brand originally started out as a footwear company, selling Visvim shoes, before expanding into apparel. The label blends American and Native American inspirations with high-tech design elements. Visvim focuses on using premium materials including cordovan, denim and chambray that can be seen in Visvim clothing and men's sneakers. The most well-known Visvim men's sneaker model is the FBT, which are sneakers with a Native American moccasin-style upper and a Vibram sole. Visvim began gaining popularity as artists such as Kanye West and John Mayer were seen wearing them often.
