This week's 'Feature'd Album of the Week' showcases Kendrick Lamar and his Section.80 mixtape. The record released in 2011 becoming the project that introduced Kendrick's music to a wider audience. The concept album features lyrical themes such as racism and medication tolerance over mellow jazz-like instrumentals. Throughout the record Kendrick's lyricism becomes more and more powerful with tracks like Rigamortis where he raps continuously over 3 minutes of muffled Jazz trumpets and drums. Section.80 set the stage for Kendrick and his views on themes and life experiences he faced while growing up in Compton.
