Puma Velophasis 'Factory' Available Now
Haven Neiman
The iconic Puma brand debuted in the ‘40s as a shoe factory run by two brothers. The two eventually went their separate ways, with one creating Adidas, and the other founding Puma. Since it was initially established, Puma has become one of the fashion industry’s most recognizable and iconic sportswear brands to exist.
Puma is revered for its sportswear apparel and footwear, and early this year released their latest sneaker design: the Velophasis. This hybrid sneaker is inspired by 2000s running aesthetics while referencing the Puma brand’s legendary COMPLETE line. The reimagined sneaker takes on a techy, dynamic look that makes an impression. Puma continued to develop its footwear technologies, such as implementing iCELL, e+CELL, and EverRide, which are used by runners worldwide. Building on the brand’s heritage while utilizing aspects of Y2K culture, the Puma Velophasis introduces its latest iteration—’Factory.’
This new iteration arrives to create a ‘Legacy.’ The sneaker blends references from a similar design aesthetic to create something new and authentic. Puma’s COMPLETE range loosely inspires this 2000s hybrid. Celebrating the past and contemporary visions of the future, new style aesthetics in this silhouette are formed by digging up the past and juxtaposing it with the future. The design uses a mesh upper and a synthetic eyestay that ties together with overlays and printed and debossed lines. A translucent molded TPU piece adds dimension, while the CMEVA midsole and rubber outsole provide durable components to the silhouette. The SOFTFOAM+ sockliner offers even more comfort, while the signature Puma branding at the tongue paired with the Puma Formstrip ties together the remainder of the sneaker.
