Created by Nike sneaker designer Peter Moore, the Air Jordan 1 maintains a timeless design and is considered a go-to sneaker style for all. As a symbol of youth counter-culture, the sneaker redefined basketball styles and was only the beginning of footwear brands pairing up with athletes. At the time, the only athletic, colorful sneakers were primarily for runners, while basketball players primarily sported a white sneaker with subtle hints of color. Although after the Air Jordan 1’s initial debut was thriving and flying off the shelves after Jordan retired in 1993, the hype over the sneaker diminished. Thankfully, in the early 2000s, the Air Jordan 1 was re-introduced and has only grown in popularity and established itself as a staple sneaker silhouette.

A Ma Maniere introduces the forthcoming Jordan brand team-up with the latest sneaker silhouette, the A Ma Maniere x Air Jordan 1 High OG. This unique design incorporates luxurious details and heartfelt emotion brought to you by designer James Whitner and the classic Air Jordan 1 silhouette. This collaboration is inspired by the concept of Airness, which to the brand means fighting hard and accepting that Airness is imperfect and immeasurable. This silhouette builds on the tradition of classic and timeless luxury that grounds the A Ma Maniere brand and is a piece to be celebrated and cherished. The sneaker tells an important story inspired by the Black community’s pride, power, influence, and resilience. 

Paying respect to the heritage of the Air Jordan 1, the collaboration’s sneaker features a Sail all-over suede upper that contributes to its elevated and vintage aesthetic. Burgundy juxtaposes the Sail hue by appearing at the quilted sockliner and leather prints covering the collar and Swoosh. This timeless design features cracked leather details along with co-branded tongues and a quote from Michael Jordan beneath the ankle flap that reads, “You have to expect things of yourself before you can do them,” along with his signature. A rubber outsole sits atop the Sail midsole, where the phrase “Airness by A Ma Maniere for Air Jordan” is printed, completing the design.
