G-Shock

G-Shock is a line of watches established in 1983 by Kikuo Ibe. The idea came to Ibe when he accidentally broke a pocket watch his father had given him. This unfortunate event caused Ibe to set out to create an indestructible watch.

When making the first G-Shock, Ibe ensured that it passed the triple 10 philosophy; water-resistant to 10bar, minimum 10-year battery life and could survive a 10-meter drop. The initial designs were primarily designed for sports, military and outdoor activities, but have since grown into a widely-recognizable fashion accessory. The design crosses the line between military wear and streetwear and has grown to become a cultural phenomenon over the decades.

G-Shock has teamed up with numerous artists, celebrities and streetwear brands to further solidify their impact on fashion. Recent collaborations include Keith Haring, Pokemon and Sneaker Freaker.
