Air Jordan 4 Retro ‘Tech White’

Release July 3rd

This summer, Jordan Brand debuts its latest Air Jordan 4 Retro colorway as it utilizes monochromatic hues perfect for the warmer weather. The fourth version of the Jordan made its debut in 1989 and was the first-ever Jordan sneaker to hit the global market. Because of this, the particular design gained unprecedented popularity unseen in the previous style. In addition to its worldly debut, the sneaker was also the first to be advertised with another person besides Michael Jordan. Alongside the basketball legend, director and artist Spike Lee introduced the inimitable silhouette. The sneaker we know and love today was created from the mind of Tinker Hatfield. Along with his creation of the iconic Air Max, he was also able to deliver one of the most sought-after Jordan silhouettes in history.

Both Nike and Jordan Brand aren’t shy about reintroducing retro iteration of sneakers and in 1999 the duo released the Air Jordan 4 Retro. The sneaker already had an astonishing debut and now its Retro version would push the boundaries as it would be the first Retro to introduce new colorways instead of remastering the originals. The model would also diverge from traditional Nike branding by replacing previous logos with Jordan’s Jumpman motif. But one of the most notable colorways to debut during this release was the ‘Oreo’ or ‘Cookies and Cream.’ Its bold black design is contrasted by speckled overlays unseen in previous models. Because of the release, the rise of this particular colorway grew immensely and became completely sought-after. Just in time for summer, Jordan Brand takes cues from this colorway with a  twist.

Nicknamed ‘White Oreo,’ the sneaker is met with opposing color blocking in comparison to the ‘Cookies and Cream’ palette. A full-on tumbled leather upper is dressed in a white colorway which coincides with the full-length laces and rubber outsole. Distinctive speckled overlays are seen upon the outsole and eyelets, which pay tribute to the OG Retro release. In the colorway ‘Fire Red,’ Jordan’s Jumpman is embroidered at the tongue- standing out against the white base. Traditional webbed paneling is placed on the sides for a nostalgic touch. The Retro 4’s come complete with Nike’s Air technology throughout the midsole. Distinctively placed at the heel, a transparent window is shown authenticating the style and emphasizing its responsive cushioning. Perfect for the warmer season, the sneaker’s colorway can easily be worn with any outfit due to its transitional style.
