What started off as a side project has since evolved into a household streetwear name. Former Supreme director Angelo Baque grew up in Richmond Hill, Queens, with a strong interest in fashion and photography. Often taking the one-hour subway ride to Soho, New York, Baque would take in the ambiance of the eclectic downtown scenery of New York City. Before being the director at Supreme and then establishing Awake NY in 2012, Angelo Baque had a large fashion resume, having interned with The Source Magazine in 1997 and then the famed designer/long-time Nike collaborator Jeff Staple at the Fader Magazine.

Awake NY is well-known for blending the traditional boundaries of high-end streetwear with cultural references. The brand often delivers loud designs, vibrant colors, and clever graphics on a selection of apparel, headwear, accessories, and more. Awake NY is highly recognized for its signature flowing script motif and graphics that reference common New York City motifs.

Awake NY introduces its latest collection: Fall/Winter 2022. This new delivery combines formalwear with streetwear, all of which include a combination of bold patterns, prints, and of course the brand’s signature script logo. This year marks the brand’s 10th anniversary, and Baque’s legacy continues to move forward along with his overall influence. Fall/Winter 2022 takes on everyday garments and headwear like hoodies, t-shirts, and beanies, all while making room for standout pieces such as bomber jackets and vibrantly-colored knitwear. This delivery also includes a selection of apparel made in collaboration with artist Stefan Meier. 

One stand-out silhouette from Awake NY’s Fall/Winter 2022 collection is the Corazon Varsity Jacket. Featuring a blend of wool and felt at the construction, the outerwear silhouette is treated with pebbled leather at the sleeves for added dimension. Embroidered and branded chenille patchwork is seen throughout, releasing a collegiate aesthetic all while referencing the brand’s legacy over the past decade. A snap button closure secures the fit, while the in-seam side pockets allow you to keep your hands warm during the cooler months. Stretchy ribbed trims are seen at the neckline, cuffs, and hem for a completed look.

Alongside the jacket is another must-have silhouette: the Paisley Printed Corduroy Zip-Up Shirt. This cotton-cut silhouette makes a statement in any apparel rotation with its all-over paisley pattern in addition to a chest pocket for added functionality. The full-zip closure secures the design, while the pointed collar and single-button cuffs provide a functional finish to the look. Stefan Meier’s influence also makes an impression in this collection with the Awake NY x Stefan Meier NY Printed Long Sleeve Tee. This cotton-cut long sleeved tee features subtle ribbed detailing at the neckline and cuffs. Screen-printed branding is placed throughout the front in a unique manner, wrapping together the overall design. As for headwear, Awake NY also introduces the Awake Script Logo Beanie. The acrylic-cut silhouette spotlights signature script logo branding at the front of the single fold.
