Air Jordan 1 'Heirloom' Release September 23rd

Haven Neiman

For the Jordan Brand, the Air Jordan 1 is the sneaker that quite frankly, started it all. The impactful legacy of the lifestyle brand began when the NBA legend Michael Jordan stepped onto the court wearing a pair of Air Jordan 1s on October 18, 1984. The public ended up later finding out that he was wearing a pair of Air Ships because the Air Jordan 1 wasn’t quite ready. The silhouette was predominantly cloaked with a red and black hue, which didn’t adhere to the NBA’s uniform guidelines at the time, which had only approved neutral basketball sneakers. This choice from Michael Jordan sent the public and the media into a tailspin, which shined an even greater light on the Air Jordan 1 which was officially launched at the end of Michael Jordan’s rookie season.

Later becoming a full-fledged lifestyle brand, the Air Jordan 1 from the Jordan Brand set a unique precedent for future sneaker designs. The Jordan Brand became its own identity separate from Nike in 1998 and has since introduced a range of sneakers within its brand along with countless different colorways and variations. With that, the Jordan Brand is introducing a unique take on the classic Air Jordan 1 with a never-before-seen colorway: Heirloom. This exclusive sneaker is inspired by the mark of authenticity. By referencing quality heirloom pieces that only get better with time, the sneaker itself ages well the more they are worn. The design references heirlooms that are passed down from generation to generation along with premium furniture labels and badging that serves as the mark of authenticity, ensuring the value of the piece for its entire lifespan.

The Air Jordan 1 ‘Heirloom’ is an understated take on a classic silhouette with its cotton twill base that pairs seamlessly with wax denim underlays and tan leather overlays that make an appearance at the forefoot and heel. An embossed Wings logo makes a statement at the collar, while the tonal Nike Air branding is proudly displayed at the tongue tag. This high-top sneaker is supported by a traditional rubber outsole and perforated toe box. The encapsulated Air-sole unit within the heel wraps up the remainder of the silhouette.

The Air Jordan 1 ‘Heirloom’ is releasing Friday, September 23rd exclusively at all FEATURE retail locations. Click here to look at these locations’ hours of operation to secure your pair.
