Sean Wotherspoon x Atmos x ASICS Gel Lyte III ‘Corduroy’ Releases August 14th
Marissa Villamor
Following the Japan-exclusive drop in June, the Sean Wotherspoon x Atmos x Gel Lyte III ‘Corduroy’ is now releasing globally on August 14th. The silhouette celebrates the 30th anniversary of the Gel Lyte silhouette and the 20th anniversary of the Japanese streetwear and sneaker boutique, Atmos.
Wotherspoon is known for his use of corduroy that can be seen in previous collaborations, including his colorful Nike Air Max 1/97. For this iconic silhouette, he takes his signature use of corduroy and uses it throughout the sneaker designed by Shigeyuki Mitsui. Arguably the most popular ASICS silhouette, the Wotherspoon collaboration, adds a corduroy upper, interchangeable side stripes and a mismatched color blocking design to the Gel Lyte III model.
The right sneaker is inspired by Wotherspoon’s native hometown of Los Angeles with sunny colors consisting of yellow, orange and blue tones. In contrast, the left sneaker pays homage to atmos’ creative director, Hirofumi Kojima, and the city of Tokyo with vibrant color hues consisting of navy, reds and purple. The signature Tiger stripes also come in five different interchangeable colors in black, yellow, blue, green and red.
