Japanese fashion label Comme des Garçons was first introduced to the fashion world in 1973 by self-taught designer Rei Kawakubo. Rei Kawakubo always had a passion for design, and her aesthetic was immediately different than the other designers. Each style she crafted was centered around providing a comfortable and functional fit that was elevated. Translated ‘like boys’ in French, the label’s overall movement questions standard female clothing and has since seeped over and grown into offerings for men and kids. Comme des Garçons challenges the status quo by creating different, comfortable, and functional styles that make a formal statement. Comme des Garçons has grown into introducing a variety of different sub-lines, including Comme des Garçons Noir, Comme des Garçons Homme Plus, Comme des Garçons SHIRT, and most notably, Comme des Garçons PLAY. 

Comme des Garçons PLAY, otherwise referred to as CDG PLAY, is perhaps the most iconic sub-labels of the primary brand. This causal streetwear line appeals to the younger generation as it's prevalent and sought after. The signature bug-eyed red heart motif is the face of the line. It has become synonymous with every item spotlighted within each delivery. Its heart motif was designed by New York-based artist Filip Pagowski and became more significant than anybody could’ve ever anticipated. Comme des Garçons PLAY has developed a cult following and introduces everyday styles with elevated finishes, including top-quality fabrics and processes.
