WTF! Happened: Smif-n-Wessun

4

Brooklyn rappers, Tek and Steele, made up the hip hop duo, Smif-n-Wessun. The duo were a fourth of the Brooklyn supergroup, Boot Camp Clik, which was a hip hop collective that featured other artists. Making their first appearance in the early 90's, the rap duo first appeared on Black Moon's album, Enta Da Stage. From that point on the two released their first single, "Bucktown" which became an underground hit. After releasing their first debut album, Dah' Shinin, Smif-n-Wessun were sued with a cease and desist by the Smith & Wesson firearm company. Continuing their musical career and dodging the lawsuit, Smif-n-Wessun became the Cocoa Brovas. Altering their name made them lose a little of their fan base and decided to fully join the Boot Camp Clik to complete the collective as a whole. From that point on, the Cocoa Brovas were completely unsigned at one point but landed a deal with several other record labels. In recent years, the duo made appearances on other musicians albums and was working on a new album but have yet to release any new music.
