First originated in 2017 by artist and designer Josue Thomas, the vintage clothing brand Gallery Dept. strives to repurpose its garments into something new through innovation and creativity. The unisex clothing brand aims to create compelling products without sacrificing quality or artistic integrity. Josue Thomas’ love of fashion began at an early age, as he watched his parents’ raw creative skills closely. His keen eye contributed to his passion for garment-making, although he never formally studied fashion. Based in Los Angeles, California, Gallery Dept.’s home office includes their retail storefront that references a gallery department. The design, production, and branding come into play for the streetwear brand.

Gallery Dept. believes in creating a unique fashion experience and doing things differently, as their philosophy centers around collaboration, creation, and rebellion. The streetwear brand has collaborated with notable figures and brands, including their Lanvin x Gallery Dept. and Migos x Gallery Dept. collaborations. Gallery Dept. fuses passions for vintage clothing and art into one cohesive vision. Each item offered within the label is designed and hand-painted by Josue Thomas on upcycled or dead-stock garments, and these items include t-shirts, hoodies, sweatpants, flared jeans, denim jackets, sweaters, trucker hats, tote bags, wallets, and more.

Gallery Dept.’s ongoing Core 0.2 collection introduces the Travel Sack. The design features a recycled cotton construction and incorporates hand-distressed detailing paired with screen-printed branding. The zipper closure lets you keep your belongings close, while the all-over wash makes a distinct statement. An additional item featured in this latest delivery is the Gallery Dept. Zuma Shorts. Featuring a cotton construction, the silhouette spotlights a ribbed waistband for extra comfort. The side pockets and rear pockets add additional functionality. Faded vintage-inspired branding resides on the left leg. Perfect for everyday wear, the Art That Kills Stack Logo Tee is another notable item. Made for a boxy fit, the design spotlights a cotton construction and screen-printed phrasing at the chest. The crew neckline finishes the look.

The Sun Faded English Zip Hoodie from Gallery Dept. is an additional apparel item spotlighted in the Core 0.2 collection. The breathable silhouette accentuates ribbed detailing at the cuffs and hem, featuring an authentic cotton construction. A drawstring hood makes an appearance, and a woven label at the left cuff. A full-zip closure offers a secure fit, while screen-printed branding at the chest makes an additional statement. The sun-faded silhouette offers authentic vintage aesthetics, emphasizing the streetwear look.
