Discover The BIO/VERSE: Puma x Perks and Mini
Haven Neiman
Dating all the way back to the ‘40s, Puma’s legacy started with two German brothers, Rudolf and Adolf Dassler. The two established what was first called the Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory. Shortly after this, the two eventually went their separate ways in order to pursue their own personal fashion efforts. Rudolf went on to establish the brand ‘Ruda,’ which then was renamed ‘Puma.’ Representing speed, strength, and agility, Puma has transformed into one of the most recognizable and iconic sportswear brands in the industry. In 1968, Puma began expanding into sportswear apparel, such as hoodies, leggings, sweatshirts, t-shirts, and more.
One component of the brand that sets it apart from others is its exclusive collaborations. Having had collaborations with an array of other brands and celebrities such as Dua Lipa, Liberty, AMI, TMC, and more. With that, Puma introduces its latest collaboration with Perks and Mini (P.A.M.). Established in 2000 and founded in Melbourne, Australia, Perks and Mini came to fruition by Misha Hollenbach and Shauna Toohey. The words ‘Perks’ and ‘Mini’ were the couple’s original graffiti tags. The multi-disciplinarity brand defines itself as an effortless flow that takes on astounding hyper-productivity.
The Puma x Perks and Mini BIO/VERSE collaboration takes on concepts of creativity, evolution, and change-making. It blurs the lines between urban sportswear and experimental design. BIO/VERSE is committed to daily exploration. Perks and Mini commits to playfully reimagining Puma apparel and footwear classics and adding technical design elements. All of the apparel is made with a minimum of 20% recycled material for an eco-friendly touch. One stand-out item from this capsule is the Puma x Perks and Mini Knitted Longsleeve Polo. Composed of a blend of cotton, polyester, elastane, and nylon, the silhouette features at least 20% recycled material. Made for a relaxed fit, the design also includes a 3-button placket, a flag label, and elastic ribbed detailing at the cuffs and hem. The all-over flower-inspired graphics wrap up the remainder of the premium and playful design.
As for footwear, the classic Suede VTG is reimagined in this unique collaboration. The premium sneaker takes on concepts of urban sportswear and experimental design, starting with the suede upper and woven brand logo at the tongue. A printed c-branded logo is seen at the quarter, while the design itself features at least 20% recycled material. A Perks and Mini flower logo hangtag is attached to the lace closure. A rubber outsole underneath wraps up the look.
